Bottle saga and No more "Rope"

I am so in love with you. I can't believe it has been 13 days since you were born. You have slept more than 6 hours 3 times since your birth. 2 night ago you slept from midnight until 645am. I had to wake YOU up and make you eat. The latching and breast feeding thing is not going so well. You will latch on the right side with and without a nipple shield, but you pull yourself off every minute or less and the root for the nipple again. After about 5 minutes you get frustrated and start crying. Mommy has a bottle obsession. I like buying bottles! I bought 4 packs of bottles awhile ago from Target that were on clearance and vowed I would use them. Well, I used them for the 1st 11 days...is that good enough? Outside of the hospital nipples on the formula we supplemented with this was your 1st bottle.
ehh they were okay. You chocked a lot on the breast milk in them.

You Grandma Linda and Grandpa Jerry came over yesterday and brought some gifts for you,  You got several 6-9 month outfits, 2 containers of Enfamil formula for the future when mommy's boobs stop working because you won't breast feed! This usually happens to me around 6 months of pumping! You got this Fisher-Price Discover 'N Grow Kick and Play Piano Gym.
You also got several other small toys. My favorite thing they bought that I was excited to try was the mOmma bottle by Lansinoh I thought you might like this bottle and it would help you latch. Well we tried it for 24 hours or so and I'm not sure if I love it. You did not chock as much on it....but I had free coupons for 2 playtex drop in liner nursers and I HAD to buy them today.
I have always resorted to the drop in liner bottles in the end. I used them with Ava once she started holding bottles so she could drink without sucking air because she would not hold them up. I used them for awhile with the boys, but ended up using Ventaire by Playetex in the end because Jacob took it best before he stopped eating by mouth...so I think I will just put the other bottles away and just stay with the drop in liner bottles I got today. They to are suppose to be good for breast feeding babies too, but I like them so when you can hold it yourself you won't suck air :-) So we have 2 of these to try for now.
Oh and before I forget Your nasty dried up umbilical cord fell off Saturday afternoon. You have a normal belly button now...well almost. It sticks out a little still. Ava referred to your umbilical cord as a "rope".

Mother's Day 5 days old

Baby girl you are 5 days old today. Last night was your 1st "bad night" you have been such a good sleeper. Only waking up once or twice in the middle of the night to eat then going back to sleep. Last night you were up from 10:30pm to about 4am. You cried if we did not hold you. It is so sweet seeing your little eyes. You are trying to hold your little head up and look around the room. You have been opening your eyes more lately. I love looking into your little eyes. I wish I could just bottle up this time and keep it forever. I love you so much, I can not even express the instant bond I felt with you the moment I woke up from the anesthesia, before I even seen you. I needed you. I worried so much while you were inside that something bad could happen. Even if something would have happened to you I would have still always loved you, but I can't describe it. It is that warm, fuzzy, happy, consumes your whole body feeling. I need you. I need to look at you and hold you.

I have started to feel sadness about not seeing your birth. I wish I could have seen you when you took your 1st breath. I cried in the shower tonight thinking about it. The triplets, I did not see them born either but at least your daddy did. They were so tiny and needed so much help medically it was different. When I 1st seen you I was okay with not seeing your birth and now I just feel sadness. I hated that your daddy missed it to. You were in the operating room with them for 20 minutes before they brought you out to your daddy. You were born at 11:37am and your daddy took a picture of them wheeling you from the operating room at 11:57. I am trying not to dwell on this, but it still makes tears fall. I am so very happy you are healthy and I am incredibly blessed to have you here.

Your daddy is holding you on the couch right now. It is after midnight now. I just finished feeding you a bottle....by the way you are starting to breast feed better with a nipple shield, but you get so comfy you fall asleep and when I try to move you and then you start screaming and rooting around like you want to eat again then you latch, suck, move your head again and scream some more...then I give up, pump and give you a bottle of breast milk. You are sleeping on you daddy with your little mouth open. I love you so much and look forward to watching you grow every day. I do miss you being in my tummy. I got to hold you all the time and you were always with me. I wish I never had to put you down.

Love, Mommy

The Birth Story

Well Mommy and Daddy had to be up at 0630 am to get to the hospital by 0730 on May 8th for your birth. Aunt Tricia and Aunt Tabby came to watch your brothers and sister while we went to the hospital. Mrs. Jill took Jacob later that day and Aunt Tabby stayed at our house with Andrew and Ava while we stayed in the hospital with you. Your birth was scheduled for 0930. They started an IV and took blood. We did not get back to the OR until around 11am. They tried to do a spinal block 2x and and epidural 3 times. They were unsuccessful with these attempts. Your daddy waited out side the OR while they tried to get everything ready. They told me they had to put me to sleep and that I would miss your birth since they could not get the spinal or epidural in. I cried and cried the entire time they tried. My heart sank for you daddy as well. He was not allowed in the room since I had to go to sleep. You were born at 11:37am. They took you from the operating room at 11:57 am. Your daddy waited outside the door for you. He got to follow you to the nursery for them to clean you up and give you your first bath. I woke up in the recovery room in a lot of pain. I was by myself and the nurse was not very friendly. I asked for you and they called for them to bring you to me. No one ever came. I was in recovery for 1 1/2 hours. I was finally taken to my room at 2:30, 3 hours after you were born. I came into the room to find your daddy holding you. I am so glad that he got to spend that time with you when I could not be there.

After we settled down. Your Aunt Tricia and Tabetha brought back your sister Ava and your brothers. Your brothers slept the entire visit. My friend Tanya also came with gifts. Everyone held you and commented on how big you were. By the way mommy also did not get to find out how big you were until I was leaving recovery. I only heard when she called report to the other nurse. Once I seen you your daddy got to tell me the details . You were 9 lbs. 1 oz. and 21 inches long. You are so beautiful. I love you so much. I love holding you and never want to put you down.

You are such a good sleeper. During the night you only wake up once or twice to eat and go back to sleep. We left the hospital and got to bring you home on May 10th around 4:30 pm. Andrew and Ava was so excited to see you. Ava wants to hold you all the time. Andrew tries to give you blankets. Jacob laughs and giggles when we put you next to him. You are so very much loved and I look forward to watching you grow every day. You are 4 days old today. I'm watching you sleep in you swing as I type this.

Yesterday we took you to your 1st doctors appointment. You checked out perfect. You are currently 8lbs 13oz and still 21 inches long.  We go back again in 2 weeks.

Baby bump pics

Purple shirt day of the delivery 39 weeks 2 days. Bare belly was around 38 weeks

Today is the DAY!

Baby Hannah today is your birthday day! Mommy is sitting in the living room with your brother Andrew sitting on my lap at 5:43am. They (Ava and Andrew) "sneaked" into my room at 3:30 this morning. They are so excited for your arrival.

Yesterday was super emotional for me. I made the final decision on getting the planned c-section for today. This means I can never have another baby vaginally. I am coming to terms with this and the very real adjustment that I am making today. You will NO LONGER be inside of me. I get to SEE you! I cried a lot yesterday. The anxiety was very bad...not because you will soon join our family, but working through the emotions of my last pregnancy with the triplets and the birth that I missed. I panicked when they were cutting me to have them and I ended up being put to sleep. I don't want to miss your birth.

Once I see your beautiful full term baby face  and cry I'm sure all my anxieties will settle. I can't wait to meet you today. C-section is scheduled for 9:30 this morning. Mommy is going to be REALLY tired since I have hardly slept! Oh and I'm STARVING and can't eat until after you are born! See you soon sweet girl!

4 More Days!

Hard to believe where all this time has gone. Mommy went to the doctor for her 38 week check up yesterday and an ultrasound to see how big you are. You are estimated at 8lbs 11oz!!! Though from my experience you are probably a pound less than that. You are head down, but face up. Mommy considered vaginal delivery, but I have yet to forget the trauma your sister caused being born face up!!! So, unless I go into labor before the 8th we will be delivering you via c section on Tuesday May 8, 2012. Out side of cleaning and organizing we got everything we need for you. Mommy went out and got you a really awesome looking baby swing today. Hope you like it! Daddy and I also finally decided on a name for you. We decided a few days ago, but we are not telling anyone until we announce your birth. Unless something changes in the next 4 days your name will be Hannah Rose Hunter. I hope you like it. It was really hard for us to determine a name for you and has taken MONTHS for us to decide! I will miss you being inside me. You have been by far the easiest pregnancy I have ever had. We will see how the next 2 days go. I can tell you are getting lower and lower in my pelvis and this weekend will be my last 2 days working at LRMC ER. I'm going to miss not working, but trusting in God to make it through this delivery and financially stay afloat. Love you baby Hannah.
